Goal 2: Strengthen Student Success & Engagement

SGSC is committed to holistic student support by enhancing academic advising, engagement activities, and instructional technologies to improve retention and overall satisfaction.

Alignment with USG Goal 1: In line with USG’s emphasis on student success, this goal prioritizes comprehensive, data-driven strategies that promote academic achievement and persistence.

Objective 2.1: Improve the quality and effectiveness of Writing and STEM Centers on both campuses.
Metrics:
•    Support Services Usage will increase by 10% by 2029.
•    Student Service Satisfaction will attain a 75% favorable rating by 2029.
•    Students who use the support services will attain at least a 0.5-point increase in GPA by 2028.

Objective 2.2: Improve the quality and effectiveness of academic advising.
Metrics:
•    Conduct an annual comparative analysis of academic advising processes for all student sectors.
•    Students’ Credit Hour Load will match or exceed the USG state college sector average by 2029.
•    Associate-degree 3-year and Baccalaureate-degree 4-5 year graduation rates will match or exceed the USG average by 2029.
•    Students’ Program Changes will decrease by 25% by 2029.

Objective 2.3: Develop programming plans to increase student engagement.
Metrics:
•    Student Life Participation will increase by 10% by 2029.
•    Associate First-Year Retention will increase by 10% by 2029.

Objective 2.4: Increase faculty training in and implementation of instructional technology for student success and engagement.
Metrics:
•    By 2026, 50% of students will respond favorably to course evaluations on the use of learning technologies, reaching 80% satisfaction by 2029.
•    By 2029, 80% of faculty will show satisfaction in training and will indicate implementation of instructional technology.
