Goal 1: Enhance Academic Programs & Student Success

SGSC is committed to developing academic offerings that align with regional workforce demands while supporting student completion through improved course access and structured pathways.

Alignment with USG Goal 1: This goal directly supports the USG’s mission to increase degree completion by focusing on data-informed academic innovation and access strategies, particularly for non-traditional and underserved populations.

Objective 1.1: Develop and evaluate new academic programs based on regional economic needs, institutional resources, and strategic alignment.
Metrics:
•    Based on labor market demand, establish at least 2–3 new academic programs or tracks by 2029.
•    By 2029, 90% of new programs or tracks will be shaped by employer input, industry advisors, or workforce data to prepare students for real-world careers.

Objective 1.2: Improve the sequence, times, and modalities of course offerings for all students, especially non-traditional and underserved, to support student planning.
Metrics:
•    Credit Hour Enrollment will match or exceed the USG state college sector average by 2029.
•    80% of students will complete First-Year Requirements within the first year of enrollment by 2029.
•    Associate-degree 3-year and Baccalaureate-degree 4-5 year Graduation Rates will increase by 15% by 2029.

Objective 1.3: Establish articulation agreements with technical colleges and/or other USG institutions to ensure the availability of transfer pathways for all students and to encourage advanced study opportunities.
Metrics:
•    5 new articulation agreements will be implemented by 2029.
