South Georgia State College (SGSC) has received official confirmation of its decennial accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The accreditation was approved June 16 during the SACSCOC Board of Trustees annual meeting.

One of the key components of the SACSCOC review process was an analysis of SGSC’s proposed Quality Enhancement Plan focusing on undergraduate research.

“The SACSCOC process for accreditation is a rigorous, peer-driven process aimed at continuous improvement of student learning,” said Dr. Robert Page, vice president for academic affairs at SGSC. “Every aspect of the College is analyzed by off-site, on-site, and members of the SACSCOC Board of Trustees at the annual meeting.”

SGSC President Dr. Virginia Carson states, “SACSCOC accreditation is essential to South’s Georgia State College’s efforts to enhance academic quality and educational experiences for our students. This is a validation of the work of the dedicated faculty and staff at our institution. I want to sincerely thank all those who worked tirelessly to prepare for this review and present the strengths of SGSC.”

SGSC is accredited by the SACSCOC to award associate and baccalaureate degrees.
