Posted on Nov 25, 2015

The South Georgia State College Hawks became the only remaining undefeated team in the GCAA Tuesday night with a 112-64 win over Combine Academy.

The Hawks (9-0) had four players finish in double digits, led by Andre Elam’s 20 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block. Tyrone Sam had 17 points, five rebounds, and six assists, while Dunavon Robinson finished with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Richard Love rounded out the top scorers with 13 points. Love shot 75 percent from the three-point line.

Tuesday night’s win follows three other wins in the month of November, including an upset of a preseason Top 25 team. The Hawks defeated Brewton-Parker College’s junior varsity team on the road 77-57 on Nov. 17 and Combine Academy 95-69 on the first day of the Applebee’s Okefenokee College Classic in Waycross. The second day of the Classic saw the Hawks upset No. 25 Eastern Florida State 71-69.

SGSC will return to action Thursday, Dec. 3 at home to play Brewton-Parker College’s junior varsity team. Tip for that game is set for 7 p.m. The Hawks open conference play Saturday, Dec. 5 in Rome, Ga. against Georgia Highlands. Georgia Highlands won the GCAA Conference Tournament last season, advanced to the NJCAA Final Four, and has been ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA preseason poll.

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
