SOUTH GEORGIA STATE CHRISTMAS VACATION SOFTBALL CAMPS SATURDAY DECEMBER 30TH

Come join us over Christmas break for some great softball instruction.  All camps will be taught by SGSC Head coach Jeff Savage and former Division I Head coach Janice Savage. The latest techniques and drills will be introduced. Video will also be utilized for instructional purposes as well. Grades 3 through 12 are welcome. Instruction will be tailored to the skill level of each camper regardless of age or ability.

 

Campers need to bring their own equipment as well as shoes for indoor work (depending on weather). Camp registration can be found at:   http://collegesoftballcamps.com/sgschawks/

 

CATCHING CAMP $50.00 9:00AM-10:30AM- CATCHERS WILL RECEIVE ADVANCED INSTRUCTION FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THE GAME BEHIND THE PLATE. COACHES WILL TEACH, REFINE, AND DRILL THE ART OF RECEIVING AND BLOCKING. CATCHERS WILL WORK ON FOOTWORK AND BODY POSITIONING FOR STEAL THROWS AND PICK OFFS. PLAYS AT THE PLATE AS WELL AS DEFENDING THE BUNT AND THE BALL IN THE AIR AROUND HOME PLATE.

 

HITTING CAMP $60.00 11:00AM-1:00PM- HITTERS WILL RECEIVE ADVANCED INSTRUCTION ON HITTING AND SLAPPING. CURRENT TECHNIQUES, DRILLS, AND INSTRUCTION WILL HELP TO IMPROVE EACH HITTERS SWING. VIDEO WILL BE USED WITH EACH HITTER.

 

PITCHING CAMP $70.00 2:00PM-4:30PM- PITCHERS WILL LEARN IN DEPTH THE SPECIFIC MECHANICS OF THROWING EACH PITCH. CURRENT TECHNIQUES, DRILLS, AND INSTRUCTION WILL HELP TO IMPROVE THE CURVE, DROP, RISE, AND SCREWBALL. VIDEO WILL BE USED WITH EACH PITCHER. (Must provide your own catcher)

About the Coaches

 

Jeff Savage served as the head softball coach at NCAA Division I Delaware State University for 13 seasons. Savage posted an overall record of 364-301-1, including a 169-54 mark in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season games. Savage is an experienced clinician, having done lessons, camps, and clinics for over 30 years, in Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Maryland and Ohio. Savage was recently inducted in the Delaware State Athletic Hall of Fame.

 

Janice Savage, is a 12-year coaching veteran that served as the head coach at Delaware State University in 2013 and 2014, and was named the fourth head coach in Appalachian State University softball history on July 11, 2014. She was at the helm of the Mountaineers for 3 season .Prior to becoming a head coach, Janice Savage spent seven as an assistant coach, including two stints at Delaware State (2006-08, 2011-12) and a year each at Bowling Green (2009) and North Florida (2010). She served as the pitching coach in her first term at Delaware State and at BGSU and UNF before assuming a more comprehensive role as the top assistant when she returned for her second stint at DSU.

 

Following the end of her collegiate career, Savage played one season professionally for Team Axia of the Italian Women’s Professional Softball League, becoming the first female student-athlete from Delaware State to ever sign a professional sports contract. She was inducted into the Delaware State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
