Posted on Dec 02, 2025

South Georgia State College (SGSC) is pleased to announce the addition of Draygo Evans to the Police Department. A proud native of Dublin, Georgia, Evans joins the SGSC community with more than 24 years of dedicated experience in law enforcement and public service.

Evans expressed his gratitude as he begins his new role. “First and foremost, I want to thank God for His grace and mercy as I begin this new journey at South Georgia State College,” he shared. “I also want to express my sincere appreciation to President Greg Tanner and Chief Sonja McCulloch for giving me the opportunity to join their team as a campus police officer. To the faculty and staff who have welcomed me so kindly—thank you. Your support has made this transition much easier than I ever imagined.”

Evans is deeply rooted in family and community. He and his wife of eight years, Georgette Evans, share a blended family of six children and three grandchildren, whom he describes as his daily inspiration.

Throughout his career, Evans has remained committed to community engagement, public safety, and strong leadership—qualities he looks forward to bringing to South Georgia State College.

“As I step into my role at South Georgia State College, I look forward to contributing my experience, building meaningful relationships across campus, and supporting the College’s mission to create a safe, welcoming, and student-centered environment. I’m truly grateful for this opportunity, excited for what’s ahead, and deeply thankful for everyone who has supported me along the way,” Evans said.

SGSC proudly welcomes Officer Evans and looks forward to the positive impact he will bring to campus.
