SGSC softball finishes 2-2 at Juco Kickoff Tournament

South Georgia State College’s women’s softball team traveled to Clearwater, Fla. the weekend of Jan. 31 to compete in the Juco Kickoff Classic Tournament. Twenty-nine teams participated, and the Hawks finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.

SGSC opened the tournament by playing Saint Johns River State College and lost a close game, 2-1. The Hawks came back to beat South Florida College in the second game, 5-3. SGSC played with a lot of heart in the next game against Sante Fe State College but fell short, 10-1. The Hawks rallied in the final game to beat Kaskaskia State College, 6-3.   Freshman Karleigh Clements had a great weekend at the plate batting .500 with four RBI’s, one home run and an on base percentage of .643.

The Hawks traveled to St. Augustine, Fla. the weekend of Feb. 8 for the Triple Crown Sports Tournament.  Their next game is Feb. 19 at Thomas University in Thomasville, Ga.
