SGSC soccer 1-0 after defeating Gordon State 3-0 in season opener

The defending Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association champion SGSC Hawks are off to a winning start this season. The Hawks defeated the Gordon State College Highlanders 3-0 in the season opener, played on the Hawks’ home field on the South Georgia State College campus.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal from Roselyn Williams (assist from Rose Bowman) then added two more goals in the second to shut the door on the Highlanders. Allie Hemmings (47:00, assisted by Williams) and Bailey Maroney (57:00, unassisted) scored SGSC’s final two goals.
The Highlanders managed just two shots on goal.
The Hawks are 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. They have two games this weekend, another conference matchup against Southern Crescent Tech on Saturday at 2 p.m. then a showdown with Daytona State College, the #1 team in the nation, on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be played on the SGSC campus.
