Posted on Aug 21, 2014

South Georgia State College President Dr. Virginia Carson is pleased to announce the appointment of Dale Hartley to the position of chair for SGSC’s Division of Business and Social Sciences.  Hartley began his work at SGSC July 1.

Hartley is the former instructor of international business and marketing at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyo., where he taught both traditional and online classes.  He also brings development experience to his position having served as executive director of the Pratt Community College Foundation in Pratt, Kan., and the National Hemophilia Foundation in Baton Rouge, La.

“This is an exciting time to join SGSC because of its new mission as a four-year institution offering bachelor’s degrees,” said Hartley.  “I hope to elevate the stature of the Division and enhance educational opportunities for our students.”

Dr. Carson said Hartley is a perfect fit for the Division as SGSC continues to expand its reach.

“I am confident the Division will flourish under Dale’s leadership, and I look forward to celebrating many accomplishments for the Division now and in the future,” said Dr. Carson.

A native of Sandersville, Ga., Hartley received his bachelor’s degree in English from the University of West Georgia.  He holds two master’s degrees (business administration from Ottawa University; mass communication from New York Institute of Technology) and is working on his doctorate in industrial and organizational psychology through Capella University.

SGSC’s Division of Business and Social Sciences currently offers programs of study in business administration, criminal justice, education, history, logistics, political science, psychology, and sociology.  For more information, contact Hartley at (912) 260-4252 or dale.hartley@sgsc.edu.
