SGSC Hawks Head Coach Cory Baldwin Named 2025-2026 Southeastern District Coach of the Year

Posted on Apr 09, 2026

South Georgia State College (SGSC) is proud to announce that Head Coach Cory Baldwin has been named the 2025-26 Southeastern District Coach of the Year, marking his fifth time receiving this prestigious recognition. Baldwin was recently honored at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas where this year's Hawks made a post-season appearance.

This latest achievement adds to Baldwin’s impressive legacy of coaching excellence, with previous Southeastern District Coach of the Year awards in 2010-11, 2020-21, 2022-23 and 2024-26.

In addition to this district honor, Baldwin has also earned eight other Coach of the Year awards since 2010, further solidifying his reputation as one of the top basketball coaches in the region. He was named the 2024-25 Region 17 / GCAA Coach of the Year, which complements his earlier 2014-15 Region 17 / GCAA Coach of the Year recognition. Baldwin also earned GABCA JUCO/NAIA Coach of the Year honors in both 2010-11 and 2014-15.

“When you receive Coach of the Year recognition, it’s really a reflection of the success of your team and the people around you,” said Coach Baldwin. “This honor belongs to our players who put in the work every day, our assistant coach who pours into this program, and everyone behind the scenes who helps make game day possible.”
