Posted on Feb 06, 2017

The South Georgia State College Hawks baseball defeated Tallahassee Community College (TCC) in their first home game of the season with a 5-4 decision. The Hawks were trailing by three until a big fifth inning driven by singles by Chandler Rogers and Cameron Coffey. Four runs came across the plate putting SGSC in the lead. TCC answered back with a single run in the top of the seventh to tie the score.

The Hawks battled back in the bottom of the seventh to win the game when Chandler Rogers singled, driving in the winning run. SGSC’s Shawn Blue was credited with the victory on the mound for the Hawks.

The Hawks return home for a double-header on Saturday, February 11th against Salkehatchie from South Carolina. As part of SGSC’s Homecoming Weekend, the Hawks invite all alumni to attend this special event. The games will be played in honor of our local law enforcement and the first pitch and special recognitions will begin at 1 pm on Crider Field. A second game will follow at 3 pm.
