SGSC Hawks Baseball Jumps on Thomas University JV early and Coasts to 19-1 Win

SGSC Hawks Baseball jumped out to an early lead on Thomas University JV and captured a 19-1 victory on Wednesday. With 12 runs in the first three innings, the Hawks left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An RBI single by Chandler Rogers, an error, a groundout by Jalen Jackson, a two-run single by Chase Hinson, an RBI double by Cameron Coffey, and an RBI single by Rogers during the first inning and a three-run home run by Kevin Acevedo in the second inning fueled SGSC ‘s offense early.

Sean Bryan had two extra-base hits for the Hawks. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning. Tanner Wright put together a nice outing. Wright held Thomas University JV hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three. Will Lane got the win for SGSC. He allowed one run over three innings. Lane struck out four, walked three and gave up two hits.

SGSC built upon its lead with three runs in the second and two runs in the third. A ground out scored Mikal Flores for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Jackson's single, plating Conner Durden. The Hawks pushed across three runs in both the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, SGSC scored on a walk by Acevedo, bringing home Durden. They increased its lead with three runs in the sixth. Bryan started the inning with a solo blast. That was followed up by Wyatt Petrey's single, plating Zack Rafuse.

The Hawks will be at home on Friday, February 19 against St. Johns River. The doubleheader begins at 3:00 pm. They travel to Palatka, FL to face St. Johns again on Saturday, February 20 with a game time of 2:00 pm.
