Posted on Oct 16, 2017

The South Georgia State College (SGSC) School of Nursing and Dr. Scott Thigpen, dean of the school of nursing, will host an information session to learn about the LPN-RN Bridge Program, Associate of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees on Monday, October 23rd at 5:00 pm in the auditorium in the education building on the Waycross Campus and on Tuesday, October 24th at 5:00 pm in room 230 in Engram Hall on the Douglas Campus.

The priority application deadlines are January 15, 2018 for the LPN-RN program, February 15, 2018 for the ASN RN program and April 15, 2018 for the RN-BSN program.

“This is a very exciting time in the field of healthcare. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in 2012 that healthcare accounted for one out of every five new jobs created and the demand for registered nurses is increasing annually,” explained Dr. Thigpen. He goes on to say, “We are proud to announce two significant accomplishments. First, our 2017 graduating class scored a 98 percent first time pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. Secondly, our nursing program has received the distinction of being named “#2 for Most Affordable Nursing Degrees in Georgia” by College Choice.”

The SGSC School of Nursing is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Associate of Science in Nursing and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
