Hawks edge Albany Tech in another thriller

Posted on Feb 13, 2014

Jovante' Spivey scored with four seconds left in regulation to give the South Georgia State College Hawks a 56-55 conference win Wednesday night against Albany Tech.  The win lifts the Hawks (14-10, 7-7 GCAA) back to .500 in the conference and keeps them in the hunt for a berth in the upcoming conference tournament.

"This was a true team win tonight," said head coach Cory Baldwin.  "The guys never gave up.  (Jovante') Spivey carried us offensively, and Tyler Miller and Jamison Williams were huge for us off the bench."

Spivey had a complete game of 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals.  Miller, Williams, and DeAndre Holmes each finished with six points.

The Hawks will continue their current homestand Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. against Georgia Highlands College.  General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars.
