Hawks defeat Georgia Perimeter to win third straight

Posted on Feb 17, 2014

The South Georgia State College Hawks utilized a balanced scoring attack Monday night to win their third game in a row, defeating the Georgia Perimeter College Jaguars, 70-62.

Jovante’ Spivey led the Hawks (16-10, 9-7 GCAA) with 17 points and seven assists.  Tyler Miller had 14 points, which included 4-of-5 from the three-point line.  Ty Bull rounded out the top scorers with 12 points and six rebounds.

“This was the most balance we’ve had all year,” said head coach Cory Baldwin.  “They (Georgia Perimeter) are a very physical team.  Tyler’s three-pointers in the second half were a big difference.  We needed those, because it really opened up the game for us.”

The win keeps the Hawks in contention to potentially host a first round game in the upcoming conference tournament.  Currently, SGSC is tied for third with four games left in the regular season.

The Hawks will wrap up their current homestand Wednesday night against Chattahoochee Tech.  Tip for the game is set for 7 p.m.
