Hawks Defeat Blue Wave

Posted on Feb 19, 2015

The South Georgia State College Hawks defeated the Florida State College of Jacksonville Blue Wave on Monday with a score of 2-1.

Hawks sophomore Joshua Smith (#27) pitched six strong innings against the Blue Wave which helped to maintain the lead.

The bottom of the first saw the Hawks take an early lead of 1-0. Sophomore outfielder Philip Hart (#22) singled to ignite the offense.

The lead stayed with the Hawks after the fourth, when they scored one run on an RBI single by sophomore third baseman Aaron Moore (#3).

The most interesting play of the afternoon went to Aaron Moore later in the game. A Blue Wave hitter tapped a ball high into the air and Moore went running after it, diving over the opposing team’s dugout fence to catch the ball, but lost his grip on it when he hit the ground.

Nevertheless, the Hawks went on to win their first home game of the season 2-1 and plan on keeping up the good luck at home as the season progresses.
