Hawks Basketball Defeats Florida State College-Jacksonville For Third Straight Win

The South Georgia State College Hawks extended their current winning streak to three games Wednesday night with a 77-55 win over Florida State College-Jacksonville (FSCJ).

The Hawks’ (8-3) trademark defense was on full display in the first half, holding FSCJ to only 5 points for more than 10 minutes. FSCJ was held to 34 percent shooting for the game and made only four three-pointers (19 percent). SGSC shot 47.5 percent from the field and was 16-of-20 from the free throw line (80 percent).

Carlos Hart and Keith Lamar led SGSC in scoring with 17 points each. Lamar grabbed 13 rebounds, while Hart had five rebounds and seven assists. Kyric Davis finished with 15 points and seven rebounds.

The Hawks will wrap up 2022 this weekend with the B-Mac’s Christmas Classic in Waycross. SGSC plays Denmark Tech Friday night at 8 p.m. and Spartanburg Methodist Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. The team will enjoy the holiday break before returning to action Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 at 7 p.m. against North Florida Prep.

General admission to all regular season home games is five dollars with children five and under admitted free.
