Hawks Basketball Cruises To Win Over Southern Crescent Tech

Posted on Mar 04, 2024

Kyric Davis had 28 points on 75 percent shooting Saturday afternoon as the South Georgia State College Hawks cruised to a 93-42 win over the Southern Crescent Tech Tigers.

Davis also had nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals as the leading scorer. Lay Davis had 13 points and seven rebounds. Jamon Mangusho also scored in double figures with 10 points.

The Hawks (18-10, 9-5 GCAA) shot 54 percent from the field and made 71 percent of their free throws. Three-point shooting continues to plague SGSC as the Hawks only made three shots for the game (25 percent).

Defensively, SGSC held the Tigers to 27 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers, 17 of which were steals.

The Hawks will play their final regular season home game this Wednesday against Albany Tech. Tip for the game is set for 7 p.m.

SGSC is tied for third in the GCAA with two games remaining. This keeps the Hawks in the hunt to host a GCAA Tournament quarterfinal game next week. The top four teams at the end of the regular season host a March 12 quarterfinal. The highest remaining seed after the quarterfinal round will host the semifinals and championship game March 15-16.

The SGSC athletic department has announced a change in ticket pricing for home basketball games. All regular season home games are now $7 with children five and under admitted free.
