Feb. 9 Game 1: Three SGSC Hawks Pitchers Combine to Defeat Salkehatchie In Shutout Game

SGSC Hawks defeated Salkehatchie 7-0 in game one Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Grant Adams landed a strikeout to finish off the game.

The Hawks secured the victory thanks to five runs in the second inning. SGSC's offense in the inning came from a walk by JR Lonon, a single by Tyler Spence, and a home run by Clayton Smith. JT Rice led the Hawks with two hits in four at bats. Kody Krause and Tony Player also contributed one hit each.

SGSC was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Carlos Hernandez had the most chances in the field with six.

Matt Thompson earned the win for the Hawks. He lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one. Sebastian Rothman and Adams entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
