Feb. 11: SGSC Hawks Take Victory over Wallace Dothan, 7-2

South Georgia State College (SGSC) Hawks walked away with a 7-2 victory over Wallace Dothan Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020. Wallace Dothan was first to get points on the board with a solo homer in the top of the second inning. Kody Krause’s sacrifice fly scored a run for the Hawks in the bottom of the second and evened things up.

The Hawks pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. JT Rice grounded out, scoring one run, Christian Campbell doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, and Krause singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs. Rice went yard in the fifth inning, hitting the one home run on the day.

SGSC Hawks had 12 hits in the game. Clayton Smith led with three hits in four at-bats. Krause, Rice, and Campbell each collected two hits for the Hawks. Adding to the hit count was JR Lonon, Tyler Spence and Matthew Warren with one hit each. SGSC didn't commit a single error in the field. Tyler Spence had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

Jacob Fletcher got the win for South Georgia. He surrendered one run on six hits over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Matthew Grizzle threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
