Dr. Tulasi Acharyal's "Like Water on Leaves of Taro" wins at the Georgia Independent Authors' Association

Congratulations to Dr. Acharya! His book "Like Water on Leaves of Taro" was the winner in the Memoir Category of the Georgia Independent Authors' Association!

Read below for more about Dr. Acharya:Tulasi Acharya began his American journey in 2008. He holds a Master’s in English, Professional Writing, Women's studies, Creative Writing, and a PhD in Public Administration. Dr. Acharya is Associate Professor of English at South Georgia State College. He has published over a dozen books across multiple genres. His academic work has been published by leading publishers, including Routledge and Bloomsbury Academic. Dr. Acharya’s short stories have earned honors such as the Certificate of Excellence from the University of New Hampshire and have appeared in numerous literary journals and newspapers, including The Kathmandu Post, The Himalayan Times, The Rising Nepal, the MSU Roadrunner Review, Life and Legends, and Vine Leaves Press. In recognition of his literary achievements in the global Nepali community, he received the INLS (International Nepali Literary Society) Homanath Subedi Diaspora Best Literary Award. His recent memoir, Like Water on Leaves of Taro, won the 2026 Georgia Independent Authors Award and also is nominated for the 2026 Georgia Author of the Year. In this book, Acharya extends an invitation to readers to witness mourning as both personal and communal, grounded in ancient tradition yet deeply relevant in today’s fractured world. His writing is driven by an unwavering passion for storytelling, cultural connection, and the written word.
