Dr. Robert Page appointed SGSC’s new VP for Academic Affairs

Dr. Virginia Carson, president of South Georgia State College (SGSC), has announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Page to the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Page began his work at SGSC Jan. 2.

“Dr. Page brings a strong background and great deal of experience that I feel will benefit our College,” said Carson. “We welcome him to our team and look forward to his many contributions to enhance our academic programs and learning outcomes for students.”

Page is the former Dean of Social Sciences, Business, and Education and Professor of History at Georgia Highlands College (GHC).  During his 16-year tenure at GHC, Page led institutional assessment efforts, oversaw the Core Curriculum revision process, and served in various other leadership roles.  He is a graduate of the University System of Georgia’s (USG) Executive Leadership Institute and a current participant in the USG’s Accelerated Leadership Academy.

Page earned his Ph.D. in history from Georgia State University in 1996 and holds both masters and bachelor’s degrees in communication from the University of Central Florida.

“I’m excited to be at South Georgia State College!  SGSC is a great institution of higher learning with an emphasis on student success,” said Page.  “I believe that the future is bright for SGSC, and I am honored to be given the chance to help shape that future.”

Prior to his career in higher education, Page worked in the hospitality industry, most notably in various management roles with Wyndham Hotels.

A native of Wilmington, N.C., Page and his wife Tracy have two teenage daughters – Emma and Kate.
