Aqua Hawks finish 3rd at Meet

Posted on October 28, 2019 12:00 AM

The South Georgia State College swim team traveled to the University of the South for the 19th Sewanee invite. The meet took place over two days and the Hawks had a great time. Friday was a short day comprising of the 50 yard butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, 100 yard IM and the 1650 yard freestyle. To make the day a little more fun, it also included both the 100 freestyle relay and the 100 medley relay, events that are rarely seen, especially in college. The Hawks finished a solid 4th with both teams and had several top eight finishes in every event. Aimee Miller secured a top finish in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 19:04.00, less than 10 seconds from our team record. Overall the meet was a great success. It showed our fitness level to compete multiple days without showing much wear and tear. We are set for our first home meet of the year on Saturday, November 2nd. This will also be a chance for our alumni and friends of the program to see how we are competing this season. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend!
